The Worse Illegal Boarder Crossing Ideas

Many people would like to follow the American dream, but getting to the U.S. is not that easy. Almost 1 million illegal “tourists” arrive in the U.S. every year, and this is only through the border with Mexico. In the large history of illegal immigrations, there are a few cases that stand out, most of them through the U.S. - Mexico border.

Many Mexicans try to enter the U.S. by crossing Rio Grande. Because most of them get caught, in a stroke of genius, a wannabe illegal immigrate dressed himself as a dog. He went to the river and started swimming. Everything seamed ok and he managed to cross the river, but once he hit land, a real dog started barking at him: it was a customs dog and an officer. In another case, a few persons have started an underground tunnel leading to the U.S. Sure enough, in a few months, they’ve covered over two miles, just the right length to cross the border without getting caught. Or at least so they’ve thought. When they started to dig upwards, they’ve hit light. A number of custom officers were already expecting to deport them. For a few weeks, the border authorities were hearing loud noises from the ground. They’ve waited for the workers to finish their tunnel and then they’ve deported them back to Mexico. The tunnel was later covered.

People have crazy ideas and some would do anything to cross this famous border. Many large trucks pass from Mexico to United States daily and a few years ago they could pass without being entirely checked. One day, a large shipment of tires entered the customs. The officers sensed that something was wrong. They have started taking out the tires and after two layers over 50 illegal immigrants were found. This was a unique situation, but since then, every truck is verified from top to bottom. This fact wasn’t known by the 10 illegal immigrants found by a police dog in a shipment of coffee. They were actually searching for drugs, but they couldn’t ignore the illegal immigrants.

The U.S. is also invaded from the North. Not many people know, but there is a large space underneath container trucks, just enough to fit a person. This fact was surely known by an illegal immigrant, who tied himself under a truck. The fact he didn’t knew was the weather. Snow begun to fall and it was getting colder and colder. He stayed steady for more than 5 hours, but at one point, right next to the freezing point, he decided to call it a day. The truck wasn’t moving for a few minutes so he got out of it and found himself right over the Canadian border. Unfortunately for him, custom officers found him too.

Another ingenious way to cross the border was put into action by a janitor from the customs building. He worked for a few days and figured out the basic program. When the officers changed shifts, he supposed that no one can see him running over the border. He obviously didn’t know about the surveillance cameras and he was caught only miles away. In another case, a motorcyclist built himself an improvised ramp and tried to jump over a narrow part of the Rio Grande. He crashed on the other side and had to call the customs to take him to a hospital.
