The White House Explanation Of The Comprehensive Immigration Reform

On May 22, 2007, the White House has offered the public an official response regarding the most common myths about the Comprehensive immigration reform, having as main purpose to explain to the people what the problems that the reform tries to solve are. One of those reform myths regards the huge increasing of new permanent residents each year due to ending the current waiting period for family members to obtain their permanent residence. In its response, the White House explains that the main goal of the immigration reform is to end the waiting period in 8 years for family members seeking their permanent residence. In order to accomplish this goal, 240,000 permanent residences will be utilized from other categories and priorities and 200,000 will be added each year for 8 years.

Another important point of the official document explains the fees question. The immigration reform provides that in addition to the filing fees which are approximately $1,500 for each application, all immigrants will have to pay a sanction of $1,000 plus $500 for each dependent beneficiary meaning minor child or spouse. And this is not all, since there is a supplementary State fee of $500.00. Taking into consideration that there is no country that want to allow criminals entering, the immigration reform pay o lot of attention of criminal background check before obtaining permanent residency status. Therefore, the Department of Homeland Security will have one day to find any factor that will make the applicant ineligible to attain the Z visa. For more security, the immigration reform also includes a new verification system for determining the status of each applicant. More than that, sanctions of $5,000, $10,000, and $25,000 per instance and per individual found to have been hired and employed illegally are included in the reform.
